AMHERST – A Mariaville teenager faces charges pending the results of a blood test after he crashed his car early Sunday morning on Route 181.
Shortly after 1 a.m., 18-year-old Jacob Cyr lost control of his 1997 Subaru wagon and ran off the road, Maine State Police Trooper Greg Burns said Monday.
The car struck several trees before coming to rest near the side of the road.
Cyr suffered head injuries and was taken by ambulance to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. His injuries were not considered life-threatening, Burns said. The car was demolished.
The trooper indicated that alcohol played a role in the crash, which occurred about a mile from the intersection with Route 9, but Burns said he was still awaiting the results of a blood test.
Cyr’s license also had been suspended recently, the trooper said. The teen likely will face a charge of operating after suspension, in addition to a charge of operating while under the influence.
Burns said Cyr told him that he was driving home from the Sports Arena in Hermon but had not been drinking there.
The trooper, however, contacted another police agency to investigate whether Cyr was served alcohol at the Sports Arena.
