HOLDEN – These programs are being offered at Fields Pond Audubon Center:
. Family Walks in Nature, 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, and 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. Leader is Holly Twining. The cost is free to parents, $4 one child, $6 two children same family, $7 three children same family. No registration is necessary.
Bring the family to explore nature on the grounds of Fields Pond. Parents and children will enjoy the exercise and fresh air, as well as learn the science and poetry of nature. A creative indoor project will be offered after the walk.
. Belfast birding, lunch and shopping field trip, 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Leader is Judy Markowsky. Meet at parking lot behind Bangor Chamber of Commerce and Paul Bunyan on Main Street in Bangor for car pooling, or on the city dock in Belfast at 10 a.m. Cost is $10 per person. Join other nature-lovers to welcome the winter ducks of Belfast Harbor, including Barrow’s goldeneyes, mergansers, eider ducks, long-tailed ducks and perhaps other interesting winter birds. Then, shop at the Belfast Co-Op for an inexpensive, and perhaps, organic lunch – not included in the cost of the excursion – and a stop at The Green Store. Return to Bangor is scheduled for 2:30-3 p.m.
. Children’s drawing class, for ages 4-10 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Teacher is Carolyn Wallace-Zani of Main Street Studio. The cost for one adult and one child is $10 members, $12 others.
The class will introduce children to nature drawing by recognizing basic shapes as the building blocks to creating artistic forms found in nature. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate. Bring favorite art supplies such as pencils, colored pencils, crayons and markers.
