BANGOR – A car crash Saturday night took down a utility pole that contained three transformers and knocked out power to a large area around Union Street.
Andrew Farnsworth, 20, of the Autumn Park West apartment complex at 678 Union St., allegedly drove a 1990 Oldsmobile through the complex parking lot at a high rate of speed.
“The crash may have been intentional,” Bangor police Lt. Tim Reed said.
Farnsworth was not wearing a seat belt and suffered abrasions and bruising, Reed said. The Bangor Fire Department responded to the report and power was restored within two hours.
Officer Dan Herrick is investigating the accident.
