WATERVILLE – Kyle Jackson scored a game-high 21 points including a clutch layup with 49 seconds remaining as Bowdoin staved off a ferocious Colby rally to edge its arch-rival 75-72 in a college basketball game Saturday night.
Bowdoin used a 73 percent shooting performance to build a 52-31 halftime lead but Colby rallied to within one before Jackson’s layup gave the Polar Bears some breathing room.
Colby missed three potential game-tying 3-pointers.
Andrew Hippert had 14 points for the winners and Andrew Sargeantson added 13 points and a game-high eight rebounds and six assists.
Mac Simpson’s 19 points and four assists paced Colby. Adam Choice had 15 points and six assists and Artie Cutrone had 12 points. Michael Russell and Mark Gaudet added 10 points each.
