TOWNSHIP 22 – An 89-year-old Canadian man has died from injuries he suffered in a crash on Route 9 on Friday.

According to reports from the Maine State Police, Tibor Jeszenszky died Sunday at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Jeszenszky was traveling toward Calais on Route 9 on Friday when his 1998 Hyundai crossed the centerline and collided with a 2005 GMC driven by Rebecca Hennessey, 35, of Machias. Jeszenszky was taken to EMMC by LifeFlight helicopter.

Hennessey and two passengers, Brian Hennessey, 1, and Amanda Emery, 24, were taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth, were treated and later released.

The accident remains under investigation by State Troopers Greg Burns, Jessica Shorey and Sgt. Jeff Ingemi.
