Salem State hangs 1st loss on Huskies

SALEM, Mass. – Danielle Jenkins had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Salem State to a 74-58 women’s basketball victory over the University of Southern Maine Huskies Saturday.

USM, 7-1, suffered its first loss of the season.

Michelle Gosselin added 16 points for the winners and Jakoya Wilkins 14.

Stacey Kent’s 19 points paced Southern Maine.

At Presque Isle, Marie Lint scored 16 points to help lead Saint Joseph’s College of Standish past the University of Maine at Presque Isle Saturday.

Carolyn Freeman scored 14 points for the Monks and Erin Cartwright added 10 points.

Erica Davis led the Owls with 15 points as Julie Wescott and Ashley Brooker each scored 12 points.
