MCI announces changes in leadership

PITTSFIELD – MCI Head of School Joanne Szadkowski will step down from her position Jan. 1, 2008, and become a consultant to the school for the remainder of the school year. Christopher Hopkins will assume his role as head of school on July 1, 2008.

In the interim, MCI Dean of Academics James Hornor and MCI Dean of Students Winn Price will share the office of head of school and lead the school through the transition until Hopkins begins. Hornor will focus on the academic side of the school’s operations as well as overseeing development, alumni relations and communications. Price will oversee the business aspects of the school and will be responsible for residential life, attendance and discipline. They also will continue in their current positions.

Christopher Hopkins plans to visit the MCI campus several times over the next six months to become familiar with the school and community. His first visit is scheduled for Jan. 3-4, 2008.

MCI board of trustees President Scott Carter said the board is grateful for Szadkowski’s service to the school. “Many positive changes have occurred during her tenure,” Carter said, “including the construction of the new dining commons-student center and the implementation of a new dress code.”
