The Pine Tree Chapter of the Red Cross has scheduled nearly 40 affordable health and safety training courses in four Maine communities between the beginning of January and the end of March, including first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, use of automated external difibrillators, baby-sitting safety and pet first aid.

“These courses are designed to save lives,” said Pine Tree Chapter Health and Safety Program director Lynn Duswald. “They can be taken in Rockland, Ellsworth, Bangor or Presque Isle. They are available on weekday evenings and on weekends. And they are very inexpensive.”

Serving eastern and northern Maine since 1919, the local Pine Tree Chapter renders aid at disasters such as house fires, floods and storms, offers Armed Forces Emergency communication and referral services, and delivers disaster preparation programs as well as health and safety training.
