At Bar Harbor, freshman Megan Phelps scored a game-high 17 points, including seven during a key fourth-quarter stretch, as the Trojans held off the Eagles.

The 5-foot-10 forward hit a 3-pointer from the left side off a pass from point guard Molly Vaux, sandwiched in between four free throws to give MDI a 37-30 lead after Ellsworth tied it briefly in the midway through the fourth quarter.

MDI’s Mackenzie Curtis scored off a Phelps pass to make it 39-30 with 3:17 left.

The Trojans were ahead 44-34 after Vaux scored a fast-break layup off a steal with 1:18 remaining, but the Eagles went on a 9-1 run to close the gap. Paige Saunders, who had a team-high 16 points to go with 19 rebounds, scored with three seconds left.

After a series of timeouts, Phelps inbounded the ball under the baseline to Vaux, who held it as the clock ran out.

Ellsworth forced nine MDI turnovers in the fourth quarter and 30 overall. The Eagles got the Trojans into foul trouble but couldn’t convert from the free-throw line, going 4-for-18.

Emily Lyons chipped in with 10 points for Ellsworth. Curtis finished with eight, and Phelps had a team-best seven rebounds.
