HOLLIS – State police are looking for a young man who robbed a convenience store in Hollis late Saturday night.
No one was injured in the 11:30 p.m. robbery at the Big Apple store on Route 117.
Trooper Jeremy Forbes said a young man armed with a handgun walked into the store and demanded cash. He walked out with the cash drawer from the cash register, which contained about $130.
Besides the clerk, four customers were in the store at the time.
The lone robber then walked out of the store and onto Route 117, where he was picked up by a vehicle that sped off.
Witnesses described the vehicle as a dark-colored SUV or pickup truck and the robber as being in his 20s, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, wearing a brown sweat shirt with the word “MAINE” in white lettering across the chest. His sneakers were described as white with blue markings on the heel. The suspect also was wearing a black, knit cap and a scarf over his face.
Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to call state police in Gray at 800-228-0857.
