Recalls

These recalls have been announced:

. AM2 PAT Inc. is recalling about 17,000, or one lot, of Pre-filled Heparin Lock Flush Solution USP syringes because the syringes are contaminated with the bacteria Serratia marcescens. There have been 40 patient infections, according to the company’s president, Patel Dushyant. This type of bacterial infection could lead to serious injury or death. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed growth of Serratia marcescens from several unopened syringes of this product, according to the company. Manufacturer Sierra Pre-Filled of Angier, N.C., distributed the syringes nationwide including in Florida, Texas, Illinois, Colorado and Pennsylvania. For information, consumers can call 919-552-9689 or 847-691-6500. Any reactions should be reported to the Food and Drug Administration’s MedWatch adverse event reporting program at www.fda.gov/medwatch/

report.htm.

. About 43,000 covered warmer dishes with rack, imported by Lenox Group Inc. and made in China and Indonesia, because flames from the tea candle can extend up the sides of the dish and a label on the bottom of the dish causes excessive smoke when exposed to the flame. This poses fire and burn hazards to consumers. The company has received eight reports of flames extending up the sides of the dish and smoking. No injuries have been reported. The product was sold at Lenox and department stores nationwide from October through December this year. For information, call 800-635-3669 or go to www.lenox.com/recall or www.cpsc.gov.
