ELLSWORTH – An Ellsworth man pleaded guilty and was sentenced Friday to serve two years in prison for providing cocaine to a 14-year-old family member last year.
Scott Firley, 40, was arrested in January after a concerned witness brought the allegations to police in Ellsworth, who began an investigation
The 14-year-old girl, who was described only as a family member, admitted that Firley gave her cocaine in October 2006 and that she used it.
Firley was charged with aggravated furnishing of a scheduled drug, a Class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The aggravating factor, according to prosecutors, was the girl’s age.
Hancock County Assistant District Attorney Mary Kellett said Friday that Firley’s sentence was four years with all but two suspended followed by two years of probation.
One of his conditions of release is that he not have contact with the family member.
Kellett said Firley had a long history of drug abuse that included four drug violations.
He also pleaded guilty Friday to bail violations, but his sentences were issued concurrently with the two years he already faces.
