Bapst edges ‘Cats Goals: Huckestein, LaFrance, Casey

PRESQUE ISLE – Chase Huckestein’s goal with 4:26 left in overtime lifted the John Bapst Crusaders to a 3-2 high school hockey win over the Presque Isle Wildcats Saturday.

Neil LaFrance and Andrew Casey each scored a goal in the third period for the Crusaders of Bangor. Ethan Sale, Ryan Hayes and Casey Hull each recorded an assist. Derek Duff made 26 saves on 28 shots.

Greg Cyr and Parker Hovey each netted a goal for Presque Isle. Josh Buck and Cyr each had an assist. Ethan Hill stopped 24 of 27 shots for the Wildcats.

Girls basketball

Bangor 51, Edward Little 36

At Bangor, Amy Hackett registered 15 points to lead Bangor to victory over Edward Little of Auburn.

Meagan Doucette chipped in with nine points while Stephanie Comstock grabbed 10 rebounds for the Rams.

Kristen Prue paced Edward Little with 15 points while Francescia Lally added 10.

At Husson College in Bangor, Jill Martell scored eight points and Christine Davis added seven as Piscataquis Community overcame a four-point halftime deficit with a 15-7 scoring run in the third quarter en route to the win.

Martell finished with 17 points for the Pirates of Guilford and Davis added 15.

Hope Johnson and Catherine Bragg each scored 12 points to lead the Patriots and Hannah Pray netted 10.
