Bus ride available to Augusta budget vigil

BANGOR – There will be a bus from Bangor to Augusta on Wednesday, Jan. 9, for a candlelight vigil to stop budget cuts proposed by the governor. The Peace and Justice Center says that the cuts will harm programs that assist victims of domestic violence, people with mental illness, elders in need of care, people living with HIV-AIDS, health care for some of Maine’s most vulnerable people, and foster children.

The bus will leave Bangor at 5 p.m. from the Peace & Justice Center of Eastern Maine at 170 Park St. There will be a stop in Waterville at 6 p.m.

A candlelight vigil – a Circle of HOPE Around the State House – will be held at 7 p.m.

The bus ride is free but donations are welcome. To reserve a seat, call 942-9343.
