Snowmobile trail conditions

CARIBOU AREA

(Through Wednesday)

Caribou Parks and Recreation report: Lots of snow early has made for some great sledding around the Crown, however there have been some break downs and with the high cost for diesel fuel, sledders may encounter a few less then perfect conditions but overall the trails are in great shape. Still watch out for a few water problems.

Keep in mind that ITS 85 between Portage and Eagle Lake is still closed to logging for a bit longer as well as an area south of OxBow. The Debouille run is still closed until further notice. Still lots of open water on lakes and rivers. Please use caution and check with locals before venturing out.

ITS 83 – Is running in good shape with few interruptions from Millinocket north to Madawaska and lots of new snow south has really helped.

ITS 81 – Is also open and groomed as far south as anyone may wish to wander. You will hit plowed road between Van Buren and Grand Isle so use caution as well as over by Squa Pan.

ITS 92 – Is in great shape with lots of helpful projects filling in so riders will find good conditions from Fort Kent to Escourt but remember the last gas is at Chamberlain’s and there is limited availability of gas on the Escourt side so plan ahead.

ITS 90 – Still has a closed section between Rt. 88 and Rt. 105 but the remainder of the trail is open and groomed with a section of plowed road between Rt. 105 and the Rt. 61 connector.

ITS 88 – Is in good shape with no reports of logging.

ITS 86 – Still has some logging but has been open and groomed and provides a nice run.

In the Millinocket area still logging along the Staceyville Road for a while longer.
