AUGUSTA – A new feature added to a state agency’s Web site provides information on the activities of the more than 300 lobbyists seeking to shape legislation in Maine.
The Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices allows users of its site to find out which special interests are pushing or opposing specific bills. It identifies the lobbyists and specifies how much they are being paid.
Supporters say the availability of the information provides more transparency to the legislative process.
