BAR HARBOR – Joseph Cousins scored six of his game-high 23 points in the fourth quarter as the Mount Desert Island boys basketball team held off Mattanawcook 50-46 Saturday in high school action.
Ben Young added 10 points for the Trojans, who picked up their eighth win.
Mattanawcook’s Derek Libbey scored his 1,000th career point on his first basket in the first quarter. He finished with 19 points in the game. Brady Vose chipped in with 13 points for the Lynx of Lincoln.

Lubec sweeps Elan
At Central Maine Community College in Auburn, Shelby Searles scored a combined 47 points in two games as the Hornets beat the Buccaneers of Poland in an afternoon-evening doubleheader.
In the first game, Searles led Lubec with 26 points, while Krista Wright tossed in 20. Amanda Huntley racked up 13 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks. Chelsee Allian paced Elan with 13 points.
In the second game, Seales put in 21 points, followed by Wright’s 12 points and 11 from Samantha Denbow. Natalie Luperlla scored 19 for Elan, while Allian had 17 and Jenna Palbs scored 11.
