Hawks defeat Bapst Kelley scores 27 in seventh win

BANGOR – Ashley Kelley registered a game-high 27 points as the Hermon Hawks knocked off the previously undefeated John Bapst Crusaders 56-43 in schoolgirl basketball action Saturday at the Bangor Auditorium.

Hermon’s Emily Berglund chipped in with 11 points.

Morgan Chasse paced John Bapst with 10 points.

At Brewer, Nick Risser scored two goals, including a shorthanded game-winner in the third period, as the Witches edged the Wildcats.

Dylan Fitzpatrick and Prentiss Swett of Brewer each recorded an assist on the game-winning goal, while Evan Nadeau and Swett each added a goal. Eric White made 25 saves on 28 shots for the 6-1 Witches.

Greg Cyr, Steve Ford and Brandon Daigle each netted a goal for 3-5-1 Presque Isle while Brennan Shaw grabbed an assist. Ethan Hill stopped 32 of 36 shots.

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Casey Poussard scored four goals as the Blue Devils rolled.

Matt Letourneau and Jon Roy scored for 6-0 Lewiston. Dylan Labonte and Poussard combined to stop 18 of 21 shots.

Christian Dionne had a goal and an assist for the 3-5 Rams. Phil Frost and Joey Seccareccia added goals. Nate Lewis provided an assist as Zach Hamilton and Andrew Riley combined for 29 saves on 35 shots.

John Bapst 5, Hampden 1

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Connor Scofield scored two goals to lead the John Bapst Crusaders by Hampden Academy.

Casey Huss had a goal and two assists for the 5-2 Crusaders. Nick Mitchell and Andrew Casey each scored a goal. Nate Kuneman made 20 saves on 21 shots.

Nate Baker scored on an assist from Wesley Woods for the 3-3 Broncos. Matt Albert saved 31 of 36 shots.

Houlton-Hodgdon 9, Orono 0

At Houlton, Craig Buxton netted four goals to power Houlton-Hodgdon by Orono.

Morgan Hall tallied two goals and an assist while Lowell Matthews, Ashir Abouleish and Cody Briggs each added a goal. Mike Epley grabbed three assists while Zach Chase had two for Houlton-Hodgdon.

Malik Abouleish stopped all 31 shots he faced to earn the shutout for the 3-3 Black Hawks.

David Eugley made 32 saves on 41 shots for the 2-6 Red Riots.

Libbey gets 1,000th point

At Bar Harbor, Joseph Cousins scored six of Mount Desert Island’s 10 points in the fourth quarter as the Trojans slipped by the Lynx.

Mattanawcook of Lincoln’s Derek Libbey scored his 1,000th career point on his first basket in the first quarter. He finished with 19 points in the game.

Cousins scored 23 points for MDI and Ben Young added 10 points.

Brady Vose chipped in with 13 points for Mattanawcook.
