A Milo couple attacked two police officers Friday when the officers were assisting Maine Department of Health and Human Services personnel with the removal of the couple’s two young children, according to police.

Milo police Officer David Henderson and Investigator Dave Wilson of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department were both assaulted when Jose Vazquez, 27, and Denise Sibert, 29, became violent, Milo Police Chief Michael Poulin said Monday.

DHHS officials removed a toddler girl and a newborn boy from the couple’s Albert Street home around 3:30 p.m. Friday, Poulin said.

Vazquez and Sibert were arrested and taken to Piscataquis County Jail and charged with obstructing government administration. Milo police Sgt. Terri Smith and Trooper Adam Coover of the Maine State Police also assisted in the case. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
