SKOWHEGAN – A 36-year-old man has been arrested after a late-night standoff with police at his home in Skowhegan.

Police say Shain Sargent barricaded himself inside his home on Gilbair Street on Sunday night after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, chased her and said he was returning to the home to get his bow and arrow.

Maine State Police tactical team members arrived at the scene and took Sargent into custody without incident.

He was charged with assault, terrorizing and creating a police standoff.
