Caribou man pleads guilty to federal child porn charges

BANGOR – A Caribou man pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court to transporting or shipping child pornography over the Internet.

Adam A. Stone, 29, is being held at the Penobscot County Jail while awaiting sentencing.

He faces a minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of 20 years in prison.

A sentencing date has not been set.

A Wheaton, Ill., Police Department Internet crimes investigation in February 2005 led to Stone, according to court documents. Stone allegedly sent a detective a link to two online photo albums that contained dozens of images depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Stone transmitted a live Web camera feed of himself sitting at his computer to the detective. The Caribou man was identified when his picture was sent to the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

His computers were searched in June 2005, according to court documents, and more than 500 images of child pornography were found. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children identified 192 images and six videos of known child pornography victims.
