YORK – Authorities said two Connecticut state troopers escaped injury Wednesday when their cruiser was smashed by a tractor-trailer at a toll plaza on the Maine Turnpike.
Maine State Police Trooper Mike Cook said the truck driver contends his brakes failed before he struck the cruiser from behind. The back of the cruiser was crushed and York firefighters had to extricate
a passenger trapped in the back.
After the crash the truck driver was charged with falsifying his logbook. The names of those involved were not immediately available.
