FARMINGTON – The father of a woman who was killed when a drunken driver struck the disabled snowmobile she was sitting on has filed a lawsuit against the driver and the owners of a bar where she had been drinking.

Jose Cerqueira of Wilton filed the civil suit against Sarah Forbes, who was sentenced to one year in prison for aggravated drunken driving, and the Black Fox Den, which since has closed. The suit also names a friend of Forbes.

Cerqueira’s daughter, 20-year-old Lisa Cerqueira, was killed last February when Forbes’ SUV struck the snowmobile after it got stuck on the side of a road in Farmington.

The lawsuit claims that the bar, its employees and Forbes’ friend recklessly served alcohol to her while she was visibly intoxicated. The bar’s former owners deny the allegations.
