PORTLAND – A former director of the Lake Region Youth Soccer League faces felony theft charges stemming from the alleged embezzlement of $4,000.

The Cumberland County grand jury handed up the indictment last week against 48-year-old Michael Cain of Casco. An arraignment date was not immediately set.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says the funds were stolen by use of a debit card.

Capt. Donald Goulet says his office began its investigation a month ago after an internal audit revealed that the money was missing.
