The Maine Association of Independent Doulas will host an evening for mothers to share their birthing stories. Birthing attitudes and practices have changed significantly over the years, and mothers of all ages are invited to come and share their experiences. The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall in Ellsworth. The event is free and refreshments will be served.
Doulas provide nonclinical support to women and their partners before, during and after birth. Services include education, advocacy, massage during labor, assistance with breast-feeding and more. For more information, call Evelyn Conrad at 945-9804 or Nancy Graves at 288-1122.
