BREWER – The public asked for it and Ten Bucks Theatre is bringing it to them – more “Fawlty Towers” and “Monty Python.”
This month, as an inaugural for its new theater space, Ten Bucks presents “The Kipper and the Corpse” and “The Germans.”
See Basil Fawlty as the overbearing and much put-upon proprietor of one of the wackiest hotels ever – complete with a cast of characters that will have audiences laughing ’til they cry. And if that isn’t cause enough to have them holding their stomachs, begging them to stop, the theater also includes more hysterical “Monty Python” sketches.
If you’ve never seen “Fawlty Towers” or “Monty Python,” run, don’t wait to enjoy what are considered some of the funniest scripts ever written.
Real-life married couple Ron Lisnet plays Basil and Julie Arnold Lisnet plays his wife, Sybil.
John Greenman plays the Major. Hillary Roberts is Polly, Allen Adams plays Manuel. And Arthur Morison plays a wide variety of characters.
The show opens at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, in the theater’s new location, 39 Center St. in Brewer, at the Between Friends Art Center (formerly Center Mall Antiques). It also will run at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25-26; Thursday, Jan. 31; Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1-2; Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 7-9; and at 2 p.m. Sundays, Jan. 27, Feb. 3 and 10.
The box office opens a half-hour prior to show time and accepts cash or checks only.
Tickets are $10, $5 for children and students. College students must show a school I.D. Call 884-1030 for information and ticket requests only. Tickets also may be purchased at Between Friends in Brewer. Seats are not reserved and are on a first come, first served basis. The new theater is smaller than the previous space.
