Ciomei, Powers lift DI-S

DEER ISLE – Collin Ciomei sank four free throws in the last two minutes Thursday night as Deer Isle-Stonington rebounded from its first loss in 33 games to hold off George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill 64-59 in boys basketball action.

Lee Academy had ended Deer Isle-Stonington’s 32-game winning streak 85-69 on Tuesday.

Eben Powers had 27 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots and Ciomei finished with 20 points to pace the Mariners.

Rashad Frazier’s 16 points led GSA. Nick Saunders and Henry Owen had 10 apiece and Adam Jordan scored nine.
