Wood, Seeley fuel Raiders’ attack Lubec, Lincoln Academy girls victors; Machias boys cruise to win

HARRINGTON – Kayla Wood pumped in 15 points to lead Washington Academy of East Machias to a 53-45 Class C girls basketball victory over Narraguagus Friday evening.

Kayla Seeley chipped in with 12 points for the Raiders.

Samantha Baker led three Narraguagus Knights in double figures with 14 points. Andrea Perry added 13 points and Courtney Foss 12.

At Lubec, Shelby Searles sank two free throws with three seconds left to expand the lead to three and secure the win.

Lubec avenged an earlier 61-60 loss at Machias.

Amanda Huntley led four Hornets in double figures with 14 points. Krista Wright and Samantha Denbow had 13 apiece, and Searles finished with 12.

Fayranne Lipton’s 16 points paced Machias. She had eight in the fourth quarter to help her team cut a 14-point deficit to one. Tiara Lipton had 14 points and Danielle Wormell 13.

At Pittsfield, Sarah Pendleton scored six of her eight points in the second quarter as Lincoln Academy of Newcastle outscored Maine Central Institute 15-3 to take a lead it would never relinquish.

MCI scored just nine points over the last three quarters.

Steph Winchenbach had a game-high 11 points for the winners.

Jenna Lorentsen and Kristi Judkins combined for 13 points for MCI.
