RANDOLPH CENTER, Vt. – Ashley Ames tossed in 18 points as the University of Maine-Fort Kent women’s basketball team earned a 68-39 victory Sunday over Vermont Technical College. The Bengals beat the College of St. Joseph’s 79-73 Saturday in Rutland, Vt.
In Sunday’s game at Randolph Center, Vt., Leah Ribera added 17 points for UMFK while Shir Fuchs had 14.
Shannon Leland had a team-high 11 points for Vermont Tech.
In Saturday’s game, Ribera scored 19 points and Alisa Licata had 13. Fuchs posted 11 points ahd Arcilla Jeffers chipped in with 10.
Michelle Thompson led the College of St. Joseph with 27 points.

UM-Fort Kent splits
UMaine-Fort Kent was on both sides of two-point games to earn a split over the weekend. UM-Fort Kent beat College of St. Joseph 78-76 Saturday and lost to Vermont Technical College 45-43 Sunday.
At Rutland, Vt., Saturday, Othniel Hyliger had 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Bengals and Jimmy Lopez added 16 points. Gediminas Sumyla had 15 points and four assists and David Russo scored 11 points. Hamil Bassue had 10 points.
Rui Carmo led the College of St. Joseph with 29 points.
At Randolph Center, Vt., Sunday, Justin Wilson paced Vermont Tech with 21 points and five steals.
Hyliger had 25 points and 14 rebounds to power UM-Fort Kent. Symyla scored 17 points and Bassue had 16 points. Lopez totaled 11 points and Billy Russo scored 10 points. David Russo had 10 rebounds.
