Drivers taking course offered license credit

The Maine Bureau of Highway Safety will offer a driver improvement course for drivers of all ages at several Maine adult education sites throughout February.

The five-hour defensive driving class will address collision avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and the basic elements that constantly change on Maine’s highways. Those who complete the Maine Driving Dynamics class will receive a three-point credit on their driving records. The course is free but preregistration is required.

In Bangor, the course will be taught from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, and Thursday, Feb 14, at Bangor High School. Call 992-5523 for information or to register.

In Fort Kent, the course will be taught from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Saint John Valley Technology Center. Call 834-3536 for information or to register.

For other locations and times, call 626-3840.

Correction: A news item in Tuesday’s State section about the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety driver improvement course at adult education sites throughout February incorrectly reported it was free. The cost is $40. For those 65 and older the fee is $10. For information on the courses and locations call 626-3840.
