Gove propels Dexter Tigers by Orono girls

DEXTER – The Dexter Tigers outscored Orono 13-1 in the third quarter to snap a 13-13 halftime tie en route to a 38-34 schoolgirl basketball victory over the Red Riots Monday.

Miranda Gove scored 14 points to lead Dexter, Michelle Chapman chipped in with eight and Ashley Richardson added seven.

Michelle Georgia and Elizabeth Fox each scored nine points to lead Orono.

Caribou’s Kristen Espling, who had five points in the fourth, had a team-high 15. Amanda Cyr chipped in with 11 points, including three in the fourth.

Central’s Bekah Campbell led all scorers with 19 points.

At Ingersol Arena in Auburn, Josh Tardiff scored two goals and recorded an assist to lead Hampden Academy by Leavitt of Turner.

Kevin Brown chipped in with a goal and assist for the 4-7 winners and Nick Pease, Mike Mourkas and Cody McAllister each notched a goal. Sam McNutt contributed two assists while Ian Lamberton, Taylor McGraw and Jimmy Walsh had one apiece. Jacob Ward made 22 saves.

Steven Rouillard scored two goals for 6-4 Leavitt and Eric Thiess added one. Tyler Robitaille and Chris Durant each had an assist and Richard Thibault had 33 saves.

St. Dominic 5, Bangor 2

At the Colisee in Lewiston, Maxwell Wiley made 32 saves for St. Dominic of Auburn as the Saints defeated Bangor.

Casey Parker posted a goal and an assist while Daniel Lajoie, Cameron Brown, Richard Paradis and Spencer Teixeira each added a goal for 6-6 St. Dominic.

Dave Pardilla netted both goals for Bangor in the first period. Johnny Warren and Christian Dionne each grabbed an assist. Andrew Riley made 16 saves on 21 shots for the 5-6 Rams.

Boys basketball

Mt. Blue 53, Brewer 51

At Brewer, Ben Russell stole the ball and scored with 1.3 seconds remaining to give the Cougars of Farmington the win over the Witches.

Russell finished with a game-high 14 points to pace Mt. Blue and Joe Gilbert registered 13.

Tyler Belote led the Witches with 11 points, Kyle O’Connell added nine, Ben Valley posted 10 rebounds and five assists, and Bill Bissell had seven rebounds and three steals.
