PORTLAND – Quarterback Jack Hersom of Lawrence High School of Fairfield has been selected from among three finalists as the winner of the 37th annual James J. Fitzpatrick Trophy, given to Maine’s top senior football player.
Hersom, whose father and grandfather have each coached state championship football teams, was honored Sunday in Portland.
Hersom passed for 1,427 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2007 while rushing for 545 yards and scoring nine touchdowns.
The other Fitzpatrick finalists were Gorham running back Justin Villacci and Gardiner quarterback and defensive back Kyle Stilphen.
