KINGMAN – Belinda Raymond never planned to become a Web site manager, but she never thought she would become a political activist, either, so perhaps combining both was inevitable.

Raymond’s Coalition to Lower Fuel Prices in Maine this week launched its new Web site: coalitiontolowerfuelprices.cfsites.org. It is a largely home-grown creation that Raymond runs from her house, she said Monday.

“Having a site makes it so much easier for people to go find information and know what’s going on,” Raymond said. “Hopefully, more people will be involved and become more aware of the governmental processes.”

The site carries coalition petitions, meeting dates, pending Legislative bills, core-group membership contact information and links to news articles.

Raymond, who operates the site for free, said the online cfsites.org accommodates nonprofits. She credited Lee Rand of Rand Advertising in Lincoln and Scott K. Fish, editor of AsMaineGoes.com, for informing her about the Web link.

Raymond encouraged anyone interested in helping lower all fuel prices, but particularly the state’s independent logging truckers, to visit the site. The coalition still seeks to compile an exact count of the state’s independent truckers, which no one has done yet. Raymond said the coalition also could always use help.

She plans to update the site as often as possible, she said.
