Big School (Classes A-B)

JASON SMITH

Smith, a senior forward on the Old Town hockey team, scored the game-winning goal in a 3-2 overtime victory over Camden Hills of Rockport and in the process became just the second player in school history to reach 100 career points. The night before reaching the milestone, Smith had a goal and an assist in a game against Orono.

Small School (Classes C-D)

BRANDON LONDON

London, a senior guard on the Piscataquis of Guilford basketball team, came up big in the late going of two Pirates’ victories. He scored all 11 PCHS points in overtime of a 51-48 victory of Penquis of Milo, and finished the game with 22 points. On Saturday, he scored 10 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter of a 52-47 win over Bangor Christian.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

HILLARY LAFERRIERE

Laferriere, a 5-foot-11 senior center on the John Bapst of Bangor basketball team, averaged 16.5 points in four wins for the 15-1 Crusaders. She scored 13 points and had eight rebounds as Bapst knocked off previously undefeated Mattanawcook of Lincoln 45-37 Monday. Her high in that stretch came on Jan. 17 when she had 23 points and 13 rebounds in a 42-28 win over Old Town.

Small School (Classes C-D)

WHITNEY FLINT

A senior guard for the Ashland basketball team, Flint poured in 43 points in an 80-45 win over previously undefeated Greater Houlton Christian Academy on Jan. 16. She hit 18 of her 26 field-goal attempts, had five 3-pointers in the game and scored 13 points alone in the third quarter. Flint also scored 13 in a 61-20 win over Easton on Jan. 21 to help the Hornets move to 12-1.
