An Old Town patrol officer arrested a habitual offender of Maine’s motor vehicle laws Wednesday morning and charged him with operating after license revocation after spotting the man’s car on a local side street.

Jamie Bouchard, 29, of Old Town caught the attention of Officer Joshua Loring while traveling along Prentiss Street, according to Sgt. Mike Hashey of the Old Town Police Department.

Loring initially recognized Bouchard’s white Mitsubishi, but soon was able to visually confirm the driver’s identity, Hashey said.

The patrol officer then took a parallel street and kept up with Bouchard. When Bouchard turned onto Perkins Street, Loring pulled up behind him and followed him as he turned onto Jefferson Street, Hashey said.

At that point, the suspect sped up for a short distance but eventually pulled over, at which time he was arrested, according to Hashey.

After his arrest, Bouchard was taken to Penobscot County Jail in Bangor. He later was released on bail. He was ordered to appear in Penobscot County Superior Court on March 15. Under the Class C felony charge, Bouchard faces up to five years in jail and a fine of up to $5,000.
