AUGUSTA – A Waterville woman who admitted to embezzling $257,000 from the Maine chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness is being sued by the nonprofit.
In a civil lawsuit filed in Kennebec County Superior Court, the agency is seeking the full return of the money that Susan LeClair took over a four-year period. The 32-year-old LeClair already has been sentenced to 18 months in jail and ordered to pay restitution.
The civil lawsuit seeks an accounting and restitution of all embezzled funds, as well as compensatory and punitive damages.
