OLD TOWN – Jason Smith, a senior center-forward on the Old Town High School hockey team, acquired his 100th career point on Jan. 16 in a 3-2 win over Camden Hills.
As of that date, Smith had recorded 53 goals and 47 assists during his high school career.
On Jan. 15th, Smith had a goal and an assist in a loss to Orono for his 98th and 99th career points.
Smith has been the Coyotes’ leading scorer, most valuable player and all-conference selection during each of his three seasons with the team. He has received interest from both the University of Southern Maine and Colby College to play college hockey. He is coached by Brett Hale.
Smith has competed for two New England championships, one as a Tier 1 Bantam and the other at the Junior Hockey level.
On Jan. 18, Smith was presented a plaque in honor of his accomplishment. In addition, a banner for the 100-Point Club was unveiled.
In the 30-year history of the hockey program at Old Town, Smith is only the second player to attain 100 career points.
The first was Cory Thibodeau, who scored his 106th goal in 1993 for the school.
