Ellsworth beats Bapst Lewey helps lead Shead boys past East Grand

ELLSWORTH – Senior James Doe hit a 3-pointer with 30 seconds remaining to give Ellsworth its first lead of the game and guide the Eagles to a 62-58 schoolboy basketball win over the John Bapst Crusaders Saturday.

Sophomore Ryan Petros scored a career-high 25 points for Ellsworth and Doe added 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Ethan Cushman led the Crusaders with 14 points. Charlie Merritt scored 11 points with Jon Gagnon and Aaron Healey adding 10 points apiece.

At Mid Coast Rec Center, Rockport, senior Brandon Daigle recorded his 100th career point on his third goal to help lift Presque Isle over Camden Hills.

According to Presque Isle assistant coach John Haley, Daigle joins brothers Doug (1997) and Darren Carlisle (2002) as the only players with 100 points in Wildcats history.

Daigle had three goals and three assists for the 8-6-1 Wildcats and Dylan Collins added two goals and three assists. Josh Buck, Mitch Davis, Brennen Shaw, Mark Carvell, Matt Talbot and Caleb Buck scored. Ethan Hill and Josh MacFarline combined for 24 saves on 25 shots.

Winsor Williams scored with 2:10 left in the first period off a Ben Dufour assists for 1-12 Camden Hills. Jake Zontini and Jake Fildeman combined to stop 46 shots.
