Ellsworth native Stephen DeWitt, a graduate student at UMass Lowell, broke the River Hawks’ school record in the mile competing in the Terrier Invitational at Boston University last weekend.
DeWitt placed sixth overall and second among collegiate runners in clocking a speedy time of 4 minutes, 6.53 seconds. That time eclipsed the mark of 4:06.54 set by Patrick Morasse in February 2005.
