CORINTH – The Fire Department has received a $50,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security under its firefighter assistance program, Fire Chief Scott Bragdon said Wednesday.

The money will be used to purchase 10 new breathing apparatuses for the department.

“The ones we’ve got, all but a couple of them, were bought new in 1982,” Bragdon said. “It’s time to update.”

He expects to be able to purchase the equipment with minimal cost to the town.

“It’s kind of a late Christmas present to us,” Bragdon said.
