Gorham High School junior midfielder Rachele Burns has been honored as the Gatorade Maine High School Girls Soccer Player of the Year, the second consecutive Gorham player to win the award.
Burns registered 18 goals and nine assists this fall in leading the Rams to their third consecutive Class A state championship. She has amassed 50 goals and 32 assists thus far in her high school career.
The Gatorade award recognizes outstanding achievements both on the field and in the classroom. Burns has maintained an A-minus average, donates her time as an academic teacher’s assistant at Gorham and serves as a mentor to Gorham Youth Soccer association players.
