Abouleish lifts Black Hawks past Wildcats

PRESQUE ISLE – Craig Buxton scored a goal and assisted the other as Houlton-Hodgdon scored two second period goals en route to a 2-0 high school hockey win over Presque Isle at the Fourm Tuesday night.

Ben Ward scored the 10-6 Black Hawks’ first goal 13:20 in to the second period and Buxton added a goal 1:22 later on an Avery McGuire assist. Malik Abouleish stopped all 30 shots.

Ethan Hill made 20 saves on 22 shots for 8-7-2 Presque Isle.

Fort Kent 64, Van Buren 49

At Van Buren, Corey Voisine went 6-for-7 from the foul line in the fourth quarter and also had a basket to help Fort Kent hold off rallying Van Buren.

Adam Bouchard had 18 points to lead the Warriors and Matt Harvey had 16, including six in the fourth quarter. Voisine finished with 14 and Jason Lesaldo had 12 more.

Ben Doucette’s 18 points and Alex Martin’s 16 paced Van Buren.

At Old Town, Colin Ziegenbein made all eight of his field-goal attempts and scored a game-high 19 points as the Coyotes won their final home game of the regular season.

Ethan Shanley added 15 points and 12 rebounds for 11-6 Old Town, while Mamadou Ba scored eight points and Evan Paradis had six steals and five assists.

Shanley and Ziegenbein combined to shoot 8-for-8 from the field in the third quarter as Old Town outscored Orono 24-13 to extend a 23-18 halftime lead to 47-31 entering the fourth period.

Seth Dwyer led 11-6 Orono with 16 points, while Lee Hecker added 10.

At Lincoln, Derek Libbey scored eight of his 14 points in the second quarter as Mattanawcook outscored Mount Desert Island 21-10 to assume control.

Tyler White led all scorers with 18 points for the Lynx while Brady Vose added 12.
