McCabe sparks Colby

WATERVILLE – Colby senior Katie McCabe made her final home women’s basketball game a memorable one as she scored 28 points, grabbed 19 rebounds and notched seven assists to lead the Colby College White Mules to an 87-77 victory over Husson Tuesday night.

Husson cut Colby’s 14 point lead to 77-73 with 3:43 left, but the Mules scored four unanswered points to secure the victory.

Alison Cappelloni chipped in with 25 points and 11 rebounds for the winners.

Jenny Rollins paced Husson with 22 points, including a 6-for-10 effort from 3-point range. Shelby Bradford chipped in with 20 points, 13 rebounds and six assists.

At Waterville, Stacey Kent poured in 20 points, a game-high, as the University of Southern Maine of Gorham handled Thomas College.

Angela Santa Fe added 12 points for the 19-1 Huskies, who had all 12 players crack the scoring column.

Amy Miles paced the Terriers with 15 points.

Men’s basketball

Colby 71, UM-Farmington 45

At Waterville, Michael Russell scored 15 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and had three assists and three blocked shots to help the White Mules roll by the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers.

Adam Choice chipped in with 12 points for the winners and Isaac Hutchinson paced UMF with 15 points.
