Raynold A. Gauvin has joined the board of directors of the Senator George J. Mitchell Scholarship Research Institute. Gauvin, a longtime businessman with strong roots in Aroostook County, is the owner and president of Advantage Payroll Services. He has been actively involved in many community organizations and service clubs and has served on the boards of many of them. He is just completing a 10-year term on the board of Northern Maine Community College Foundation, where he led a major gifts campaign that exceeded its goal of $2 million. “We are simply delighted to have Ray join our board of directors,” said Mary Mitchell Friedman, president of the Mitchell Institute board. “He brings tremendous expertise in the financial field and a proven track-record as a community leader and fundraiser.” The Mitchell Institute is based in Portland and works throughout Maine on a host of education aspirations and access issues. Most notably, the institute provides a $5,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from every public high school in Maine every year.
