Wood, Seeley lift WA Raiders past Blue Devils

EAST MACHIAS – Kayla Wood made 9 of 11 free throws and scored 15 points overall as the Washington Academy Raiders knocked off Calais for the second time in three meetings this winter, 57-53 in schoolgirl basketball action Thursday night.

Wood also had four steals, while Taylor Seeley had 11 points and 12 rebounds.

WA took the lead midway through the fourth quarter, and Wood and Carilla Fritz combined to make 7 of 8 free throws down the stretch.

Nicole Osborne led Calais with 17 points, while Kayla Beaton scored 14 points and Courtney Hill added 12.
