PORTLAND – New Brunswick Premier Shawn Graham will talk about energy issues and other shared concerns when he addresses a joint session of the Maine Legislature on Tuesday.
Graham is believed to be the first Canadian premier to speak to the Legislature. During his visit, he also is scheduled to meet with business leaders in Bangor.
Graham comes to Maine at a time when the state is considering a plan to ease increases in the cost of electricity by pulling away from the New England power grid and forming closer ties with Atlantic Canada.
Graham’s government is promoting the development of new power sources in hopes of turning the province into an energy hub.
