BOSTON – The Coast Guard is assisting a tanker that is carrying liquefied natural gas and is adrift about 35 miles off Cape Cod.
Officials say the 933-foot Catalunya Spirit is in no immediate danger. It lost propulsion and became disabled about 3 a.m. while carrying its load from Trinidad and Tobago to Boston.
A Coast Guard cutter is with the tanker, and a Coast Guard inspector and technical representative are headed to the scene. The tanker crew of 29 is making hourly reports to the Coast Guard in Boston.
