BOSTON – Vanessa Vani scored a goal and assisted another to lead the University of Maine Black Bears to a 4-2 women’s hockey win over the Northeastern University Huskies Saturday.

Northeastern beat Maine 3-1 Friday night.

Lexie Hoffmeyer, Kim Meagher and Amy Stech added goals for the 3-22-3 Black Bears. Pam Patterson provided two assists while Danielle Cyr and Taryn Peacock each had one. Genevieve Turgeon made 36 saves on 38 shots.

Chelsey Jones scored both of 6-18-3 Northeastern’s goals in the third period. Leah Sulyma stopped 27 of 31 shots.

On Friday night, Nikki Petrich’s shorthanded goal late in the first period proved the game-winner for the Huskies.

Maine’s Turgeon registered 32 saves to set the school’s career mark with 1,776. She broke the previous record of 1,757 set by Amanda Cronin (1998-2002).

Kristie Kehoe and Jones scored the other goals for Northeastern (6-17-3, 5-8-1 Hockey East). Sulyma made 35 saves. Pam Patterson scored a third-period goal off an Abby Barron assist for the Black Bears (2-22-3, 1-10-3 HE).
