BANGOR – The Hammond Street Gulf gas station and automobile repair shop has closed temporarily.

Its longtime mechanic, Doyle Harriman, and his wife, Del, who has managed the station, said Tuesday they hope to lease the building from owner June Bowden in the near future.

While logistical and legal matters are reviewed, Doyle Harriman continues to repair cars from his home-based mechanic shop at 36 Clark Road in Winterport. He may be reached there at 852-9762.

Bowden could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
