Flint, Hornets respond, hold off Hodgdon

PRESQUE ISLE – Ashland’s 10-point lead with 41/2 minutes left became a tie game with 1:31 to go, but Whitney Flint scored 10 of her game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter to help the No. 4 Hornets hold on for a 54-50 Eastern Maine Class D schoolgirl basketball prelim win victory over Hodgdon Tuesday night.

Flint also had 14 rebounds while Mindy Chasse finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds for Ashland.

Chelsea Sloat and Taylor Quint led the No. 13 Hawks with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
